Original Cocktail

A historically significant gin tipple, this was allegedly the first instance of a drink defined as a “cocktail”. It was served at the Axe & Gate pub on Downing street in 1798 to celebrate the ascension of the youngest prime minister in history, William “The Younger” Pitt. He was 24 years old at the time.
Ingredients
- 1.75 parts Fords Gin
- 0.5 parts Dry Curacao
- 0.5 parts Ginger Syrup
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Instructions
- Stir Ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with lemon and orange peel.
