Gin’s history is rooted in the age old philosophy of ‘for medicinal purposes’. Juniper, gins core ingredient, has been used, has been used for medicine as far back as ancient Egypt. The Ebers Papyrus, which is said to be the most important Egyptian medical papers ever written, prescribed Juniper as a cure for jaundice. Alcohol was often a carrier of medicine and this is how juniper first meet in their historical journey together as far as we know. The papers date back to 1550 BC. They are named after George Ebers who purchased the papers in 1873 in Luxor. #ginhistory #ginstory
